National FFA Convention 2023
Eleven A-C FFA Students Compete Nationally
We want to congratulate some amazing A-C FFA members who represented not only our school and chapter, but also the state of Ohio on a national level as they recently competed at the National FFA Convention.
Congratulations to A-C Graduate Morgan Anderson for becoming our first member to be elected to a national FFA officer position! As Ohio’s National FFA Officer candidate, Morgan competed against 34 others to earn one of six coveted National FFA Officer positions. She will lead the FFA’s 900,000+ members into the future as the National FFA Eastern Region Vice President.
We are beyond proud to have had three separate individuals/teams competing in Career Development Event (CDE) contests at the national level!
Agricultural Communications CDE – Congratulations to Class of 2023 Graduates Hannah Saum, Emily Buckley, Riley McKeska and ACHS Senior Rachel Weaver for placing fourth in the nation in the Agricultural Communications CDE. Also, congratulations to Hannah for earning fourth place in the nation individually! Last winter, Hannah, Emily, Riley and Jillian Bennett comprised the state-winning Agricultural Communications CDE team. This win allowed them to advance to the recent national competition with Rachel Weaver, current ACHS senior, filling in for Jill (who isn’t allowed by rule to participate in more than one national competition). Preparing for this national contest has required dedication and persistence – and a lot of virtual meetings between Rachel and the three college students (Emily at Cornell University, Hannah at Texas A&M University and Riley at Wilmington College).
Employment Skills CDE – Congratulations to Class of 2023 Graduate Jillian Bennett for earning a silver rating in the national Employment Skills CDE! She advanced to the national competition after becoming last spring’s state winner in the Job Interview CDE (the contest name is slightly different at the state level).
Agricultural Issues Forum CDE – Congratulations to senior Madelyn Anderson, juniors Caidyn Garee and Madison Cordle, and sophomores Cate Buckley and Emma Strickler for earning a bronze rating in the national Agricultural Issues Forum CDE! This team won the state contest last year to pave the way for national competition.
All 10 of these incredible individuals have invested countless hours of practice and preparation to win their state contests and to prepare for the elite national-level contests. There are over 28,000 FFA members in Ohio and students from schools of all sizes can compete in these CDE contests. When our students win a state competition, they’re truly competing with all members across the state.
A-C FFA members have won state contests in multiple CDE areas over 60 times in the last 20 plus years, and our teams and individuals have earned top-five state placements almost 90 times over the last 20 years. This is unrivaled and means that hundreds of A-C FFA members have performed at the highest levels consistently year in and year out to earn this sort of success. Many of the 350 schools in Ohio with FFA chapters have never won a single CDE; our students are doing tremendously incredible things! To say we are proud of them is an understatement.
We also want to congratulate three members who worked diligently to receive their American FFA Degree: Morgan Anderson, Logan Craycraft and Trevor Spence. The American Degree is the highest honor an FFA member can earn.
